The blockbuster film franchise based on the book series by J. Rowling has bounced between a few different subscription platforms.
As recently as August , the series was streaming on HBO Max. The franchise has since left that platform and is now streaming through NBC's Peacock on a rotating basis.
A return to HBO Max is possible in the future, however. The popular fantasy movies take place in the Harry Potter Universe, where wizards and people without magical abilities muggles coexist.
Throughout the series, viewers follow the protagonist, Harry, and his two friends, Hermione and Ron, as they progress through their formative years at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Along the way, Harry meets allies and enemies, hones his magic, and unlocks his destiny. Rowling's Wizarding World — which includes the eight "Harry Potter" movies and two "Fantastic Beasts" movies — is the fourth highest grossing franchise of all time at the domestic box office.
The films served as launching pads for the careers of their young actors, including Daniel Radcliffe Harry and Emma Watson Hermione.

The "Harry Potter" movies are now available on NBC's Peacock streaming service. The films first made their way to Peacock in October but then left in November.
The movies eventually made their way back to Peacock in , but it's unclear how long they'll remain. Due to existing streaming deals, Vulture suggests that the movies may alternate between Peacock and HBO Max regularly through A new "Harry Potter" show is reportedly in the works for HBO Max, according to Variety , but it's unknown whether the series will have any impact on the movies' streaming home.
Peacock is a free streaming service from NBC. The base package offers a limited library of movies and shows that are ad-supported.
